Abstract:
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) referred as multicarrier communication systems. Due to OFDM’s immunity to many channel imperfections, it is the ideal modulation scheme for many applications which transmit signals in hostile environments. A major drawback of OFDM is the high peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) problem, which can lead to low power efficiency and nonlinear distortion at the transmitter power amplifier. In this paper modified SLM scheme is analytically and numerically evaluated for the OFDM system with 52 sub carriers. The modified SLM scheme with 4 binary phase sequences can reduce the complex multiplications by 56.2% and complex additions by 62.5% with the similar PAPR reduction compared with the conventional SLM scheme with 16 binary phase sequences.
