Abstract:
The cantilever beams are important structural members in varieties of applications. The study of their modal characteristics i.e., natural frequencies and mode shapes, is so significant in earlier stages of design. Various methods viz. numerical analysis, finite element analysis and experimental analysis can be used for determination of modal characteristics of a system. The natural frequencies help designer to avoid resonance conditions, hence the failure of system. This paper illustrates comparative study of various methods of modal analysis. Experimental analysis method using DEWEsoft is illustrated in this paper. The DEWEsoft software collects data of FRF, next to extraction phase and amplitude and in Analyse mode it is possible to animate the structure for the frequencies of interest.
