Abstract:
In emerging electric power systems, increased transactions often lead to situations where system no longer remains in the secure operating region. The Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) controllers can play an important role in the power system security enhancement. This paper gives the comparative analysis of of Improvement in Power System Performance by Application of shunt FACTS device STATCOM & SVC. The methodology based on Reactive power sensitivity approach with respect to STATCOM & SVC control parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested and illustrated on 5-bus system. The simulation is performed using Matpower 4.0 in MATLAB The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested and illustrated on 5-bus system.
