Abstract:
Presently the surface water quality of surface area in east zone of central India has been assessed by analyzed including temperature, pH, turbidity, total hardness, TDS, DO, BOD, COD, nitrate sulphate and phosphate. We have designed twenty sampling stations district for this study in east zone i.e. rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Umaria, Katni, Panna, Chhatarpur, Jabalpur, Mandala, Dindori, Siwani, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Hosangabad, Betul, Damoh, Sagar and Bhopal. Temperature ranged between 100C to 330C, pH 6.2 to 8.5, turbidity 0.1to 5.6 NTU, Total hardness 122 to 536 mg/l, TDS 23 to 538mg/l, DO 0.6 to 6.5, BOD 1.0 to 23.2 mg/l, COD 1.3 to 21.5 mg/l, nitrate 0.001 to 17.3 mg/l, sulphate 0.003 to 6.0 mg/l and phosphate 0.002 to 1.234 mg/l. The surface water samples from few locations in the surface water area of east zone of central India are found to be polluted and not fit for the drinking purpose.
