Abstract:

Environmental Management Plan (EMP) aims at the preservation of ecological system by considering in-built pollution abatement facilities at the proposed site. Mitigation measures at the source level and an overall Environment management plan at the study area are elicited so as to improve the supportive capacity of the receiving bodies. The EMP aims at controlling pollution at the source level to the possible extent with the available and affordable technology followed by treatment before they are discharged. The environment management plan (EMP) of Tasra Coal Project of SAIL, Chasnala presented in this paper discusses the administrative aspects of ensuring that mitigative measures are implemented and their effectiveness monitored after approval of the EIA. The major adverse impact identified is on the, air quality, water quality, and land use and noise quality.
