Abstract:
Integration of renewable energy based Distributed Generation (DG) units provides potential benefits to conventional distribution systems. However, if the location and size of DG unit is not proper, it may possible to increase in power losses and voltage profile degradation. In present paper, Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) is used to determine the location and capacity of DG. The objective is to minimize the total real power losses and improve the voltage profile. Here, power flow analysis is done using Forward-Backward sweep method. MATLAB programming is used to implement the proposed algorithm. Study has been carried out on 15 bus radial distribution system and results are discussed.
