Abstract:
Carbon nano tubes (CNTs) are often described as a graph sheet rolled up into the shape of a cylinder. These have fascinated scientists with their extraordinary properties. These compounds have become increasingly popular in various fields simply because of their small size and amazing optical, electric and magnetic properties when used alone or with additions of metals. Carbon nano tubes have potential the rapeutic applications in the field of drug delivery, diagnostics, and bio sensing. Functionalized carbon nano tubes can also act as vaccine delivery systems. In this paper the elastic properties of two main types of single-walled carbon nano tubes (armchair and zigzag) were simulated by analytical molecular mechanics models. The aim of this work is investigation and comparison of Young’s modulus, shear modulus and Poisson’s ratio variations of different types of tubes as functions of diameter. The single and multi layer Carbon nano tube using nano explorer tool and enumerated its properties for various application.CNT used for energy storage purpose as well as for transmission of electrical energy.
