Abstract:
Population of vehicle and its uses is increasing tremendously in the world and especially in the urban area. Pollution from the petroleum oil increases in terms of HC, CO2, CO, NOX. To reduce it CNG is the best suitable fuel for the IC engine because of its clean emission characteristics. It is necessary to optimize the CNG run engine with parameter 12.4 compression ratio and 300 ignition advance which will produce more power, less specific fuel consumption, less emission. When the engine run with the use of higher CR it gives higher Brake Power but it is lead to increasing the NOx emission and more fuel consumption. So, Engine performance can be significantly improved when the EGR dilution strategy is employed at higher inlet pressure for Engine brake power increased and engine fuel consumption and NOx emissions decreased. I have selected GL-400 single cylinder (5.5 kw) diesel engine for experimental setup. Then diesel engine converted into CNG fuelled spark ignition engine with necessary changes. Maximum results are found when 8% EGR employing at 2000 rpm with 72% load. Brake power reduce 4.45% reduce, Brake specific fuel consumption reduce 3.83% decrease, Brake thermal efficiency increase 3.64% and NOx emission reduce 21.46%.
